Notes
Consider a combo of 1 Lb beef and 1 Lb turkey. The beef adds flavor and texture to the turkey.
You can sub fresh jalapeños for pickled if you would like. 3-4 jalapeños should do the trick.
If you want to up the Tex-Mex, sub the cheddar soup for 2 C of queso or nacho cheese.
You may end up with a few extra tots after layering the dish. If so, add them on top of the primary tots layer and sneak them as a quick snack after you pull the dish out of the oven.
Fun Fact: Ore-Ida invented tater tots in 1953 and actually has the trademark on the name “tater tot” (though “tater tot” is commonly used as a generic term).
Fun Fact #2: Ore-Ida’s name is a combination of the first syllables of Oregon and Idaho.
