If using fresh green beans, wash them and snap the ends off. Peel and chop (or mince) the garlic.
2 Lbs Green Beans, 8 Cloves Garlic
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the butter is starting to bubble, add the green beans and 1/2 tsp salt.
4 Tbsp Butter
Cook 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the green beans start to soften a little. Frozen green beans may take a little longer. Note: I like green beans pretty crunchy. If you like yours softer, consider cooking them an extra 5-10 minutes.
Once the initial cooking time has elapsed, and your green beans are nearing their desired doneness, add the garlic, onion powder and 1/2 tsp black pepper. Cook another 3-4 minutes until the garlic has softened.
2 tsp Onion Powder, Salt and Pepper to Taste
Bite into a green bean to test for desired crunch before cutting the heat. Add the (optional) parmesan cheese and a final sprinkle of salt and pepper to taste.
1/2 C Grated Parmesan Cheese
Serve right away with a nice cut of beef or chicken and some rice or mashed potatoes.
