Homemade Ranch Dressing
This is a cool, creamy ranch dressing recipe that can be used as a dip or dressing on nearly everything. The best part is that it's super easy to make from scratch at home!
Equipment
- Blender or Food Processor (Optional) but Recommended
- Normal Kitchen Utensils
Ingredients
- 2/3 C Mayonnaise
- 2/3 C Sour Cream or Plain Yogurt
- 2/3 C Buttermilk or Sour Cream / Yogurt
- 1 tsp Dried Dill
- 1 tsp Dried Parsley
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Dried Chives, 1/2 tsp More Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Lemon Juice Hot Sauce or Pickle Juice
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- Additional Salt and Pepper to Taste
Instructions
- Pulse everything except the mayo, yogurt / sour cream and buttermilk in your blender or food processor until chopped into a fine, uniform mix. Generally 30 seconds of pulsing at the max.1 tsp Dried Dill, 1 tsp Dried Parsley, 1/2 tsp Onion Powder, 1 tsp Dried Chives, 1/2 tsp More Onion Powder, 1 tsp Garlic Powder, 1 tsp Lemon Juice, 1/2 tsp Salt, 1/4 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- If not using a blender or food processor, finely chop all the fresh herbs and spices and mix with the dried herbs and spices.
- Combine the spice mix with the mayo, yogurt and buttermilk / sour cream. Note: for a a lighter, dressing-like consistency, use buttermilk. For a dip, sub the buttermilk for more yogurt or sour cream.2/3 C Mayonnaise, 2/3 C Buttermilk or Sour Cream / Yogurt, 2/3 C Sour Cream or Plain Yogurt
- Once combined, chill the dressing for at least two hours. Test for more salt and pepper (generally not needed) after the flavors have had time to meld together.Additional Salt and Pepper to Taste
- Serve as a dressing on salads, a spread on sandwiches, or a dip for chicken strips, fries, fresh vegetables or anything else your heart desires.
