  • Rolling Pin or Empty Wine Bottle

  • 1 C Greek Yogurt Full-Fat Preferred

Instructions

  • Combine the ingredients in a bowl and mix until a shaggy (still rough and messy) dough forms.
    1 C (Leveled) Self-Rising Flour, 1 C Greek Yogurt
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly flours surface and knead 2-3 minutes, until the dough comes together and becomes smooth.
Add pinches of flour to the kneading surface, as necessary, if the dough continues to be sticky.
  • Divide the dough into 4 even pieces and roll each piece into 1/4 inch thick discs. They should be roughly 7 inches wide.
  • Heat a dry skillet or pan over medium-high heat.
  • Cook each disc on the hot pan for 2-3 minutes per side, so the bread cooks through and each side gets a few nice golden brown spots.
If the bread puffs up, carefully pierce the side with a knife to let the steam out.
  • After that, the flatbreads are ready to serve! You can use them for dipping, for soaking up sauces, or even for sandwiches.

My Go-To Two-Ingredient Flatbread Recipe

This two-ingredient flatbread is one of my kitchen go-tos. If you want something easy, fast, and satisfying, you’re in the right place. I love how simple this recipe is—no yeast, no waiting around. Just mix, knead, and cook! It’s perfect for busy nights when you still want something homemade. It’s also perfect if you are a bread making beginner – much more forgiving than any other bread I can think of.

This dough is magic because it’s just self-rising flour and yogurt. Two humble ingredients come together to create something amazing. The yogurt gives the dough a slight tang and keeps it soft and flexible. You’ll see a shaggy dough at first—don’t worry! Just knead it a bit, and it’ll turn into a smooth, soft dough that’s easy to work with.

A Little History and Fun Facts

Flatbreads are one of the oldest kinds of bread in the world. Ancient people made simple breads with flour and water over hot stones. Cultures across the globe have their own versions—like Indian roti, Middle Eastern pita, and Greek pita bread.

This 2-ingredient version doesn’t belong to one specific cuisine. It’s more of a modern take on classic breads.

One fun fact? Yogurt has been used for centuries in bread doughs in parts of the Middle East and India. It helps keep bread tender and adds a rich flavor. So while this flatbread isn’t “authentic” to any one place, it does have roots in how people have cooked for generations.

Another fun fact? You can make your own self-rising flour. It’s just flour, baking powder and little salt.

How I Use Two-Ingredient Flatbread

I love this flatbread as a stand-in for tortillas. If you’ve seen my Greek Tacos recipe, swap in these flatbreads for a soft, warm shell. It really takes the dish up a notch!

I also use these with my Tzatziki recipe as a perfect dipping bread. The creamy yogurt dip pairs perfectly with the chewy, warm bread. Sometimes I even make a batch just to eat with soup or a salad.

If you like a little extra flavor, try adding rosemary or garlic to the dough. You can also top them with melted butter and a sprinkle of salt when they come off the pan.

One More Tip

Here’s my final tip: use whole milk Greek yogurt for the softest, tastiest bread.

If you’re feeling adventurous, try rolling them thin for a tortilla-like wrap or thicker for a more naan-like bread. They’re so flexible—once you make them, you’ll want to use them in all your meals!

Let me know in the comments how you served your 2-ingredient flatbread. Did you try them with my Greek Tacos or Tzatziki? Happy cooking!
