Welcome to the Simple Greek Lemon Feta Salad

When I think about simple salads that deliver big flavor with little effort, this simple Greek lemon feta salad always comes to mind. My long-time friend makes a salad like this nearly every other time they have me over for dinner. It has become a staple dish in my mind — casual, comforting, and a little “Greek-ish,” as they like to say. They come from a Greek background, and they joked that this salad was only “kind of Greek.” But the bright lemon, salty feta, and splash of olive oil always made it feel special.

If you made the recipe above, you already know how fast it comes together. A handful of crisp lettuce, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, a drizzle of olive oil, and a generous sprinkle of feta turn into a clean, refreshing side salad. It works well with grilled chicken, pasta dishes, Mediterranean meals, and anything that needs a bright, crunchy side. Many readers look for simple Greek salad dressing ideas, and this one uses a classic 2:1 oil-to-acid ratio with, basically, three ingredients.

What Makes a Salad “Greek” Anyway?

Many people may think of Greek salad as a bowl of lettuce with feta and dressing, but a traditional Greek salad — called horiatiki — does not include lettuce at all. The classic version features tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, olives, green bell pepper, olive oil, and dried oregano, all topped with a big slab of feta. It is simple, rustic, and full of Mediterranean flavor. My friend’s version is different, but it still celebrates Greek flavors in a way that feels accessible and easy for everyday cooking.

A Quick Note on Cavender’s Greek Seasoning

My friend always shakes a little Cavender’s Greek Seasoning over this salad. That is their go-to Greek seasoning. It adds a savory, herby depth that works perfectly with the lemon and feta. Cavender’s has been around since the 1960s, created by a man named Spike Cavender in Harrison, Arkansas. It has become an American pantry favorite for people who love Greek-style flavor. I use it often with this salad, but I have no affiliation with the brand. If you prefer not to buy it, or are in a pinch, you can use the quick homemade Greek seasoning listed with the recipe.

Why This Salad Works for Busy Days

This salad makes hosting easy. If extra people arrive, you can toss more together in minutes. Store the lettuce, lemon juice, olive oil, feta, and seasoning separately, then mix as needed. It stays fresh, flexible, and fast — which fits the way most of us eat today.

If you want another Greek-ish dish after this one, check out my Greek tacos and Greek pico de gallo. They match the same bright, Mediterranean vibe and use easy, everyday ingredients.
